The Problem

A decade in pro hockey, and a new business that had to sell from day one.

Gavin Bayreuther spent ten years playing professionally — NHL, AHL, NCAA and Europe — and came home to Maine to build a development program around what that career taught him. Bayreuther Hockey Club was launching with a full lineup on the first day: private training, small groups, off-ice development, career consulting for families, a season-long Little Lobsters program for the youngest skaters, and club gear. A brochure site could not do that. Every one of those needed to be booked, registered for, waived and paid for online, in a market where Greater Portland families had never heard the name yet.

Our Approach

We built BHC as a platform launch, not a website launch. The front of the site tells the story — the pro career, the four pillars every program is built on, where the club trains — and every service page ends in a real booking flow with its own price, capacity and coach. Little Lobsters runs on the registration element: a capped season roster, the custom questions a parent needs to answer, and an e-signed waiver, all before a spot is confirmed. Stripe Connect puts the money straight into BHC's account with sales tax handled automatically. Under it sits a full local-SEO build — a locations page covering the rinks and towns the club serves, structured data on every page, Search Console and analytics wired from launch — so the site earns its own traffic as the name spreads.

What We Built

  • Custom Next.js website built around a decade of pro-hockey credibility and the four BHC pillars
  • Online booking for private training, small groups, off-ice development and consulting, each with its own pricing and capacity
  • Little Lobsters season registration with a capped roster, custom intake questions and e-signed waiver
  • Stripe Connect payments landing directly in BHC's account, with automatic sales tax
  • Club shop with per-size inventory and front/back product photography
  • Locations page, structured data, sitemap, Search Console and GA4 — local SEO live from launch day
  • Admin back office: schedule, bookings, registrations, players, orders and email campaigns in one place
  • Domain cutover from Squarespace with Google Workspace email untouched

The Result

A new club that launched taking bookings, not just announcing itself.

Bayreuther Hockey Club went live in September 2026 with every program bookable and Little Lobsters registration open the same day. Parents book a session or register for the season, sign the waiver and pay in one pass; Gavin sees it land in his admin and his Stripe account. The club started life with a working back office instead of a contact form — and a site built to rank for hockey training across Greater Portland before the first season is over.
